Be light.

I got an email this afternoon from a lady I know. She said she didn’t really need anything but asked if I could meet with her tomorrow or Tuesday “because she needs some positivity in her life”.

Wow. I’m positivity? I’m so glad.

Of course I’ll meet with her, because that’s my goal. My goal is to never be a complainer, a whiner, a victim, but instead be light.

You don’t like the world? Get busy changing it right where you are. It’s possible, and it doesn’t cost money. It doesn’t even have to be “big”. It just has to be something that comes from you.

Your life sucks? Well, sometimes it does for all of us. You can get busy taking back the part you can control, finding light in a dark situation, being light in a dark situation, praying for light you need…or you can stay busy wallowing in that sucky life.

Are you “light” material? Can you swing it? What are you posting on social media? Are your responses to life’s annoyances reasonable, or do you freak out about little stuff? Do you respond to others by thoughtfully listening, maybe by offering a kind word, or are you quick to tell a relatable story about you? Is there a frown on your face, or do you look pleasant? What’s that tape playing in your own head? Are you down on yourself? That’s not light. That’s the world already.

Light is hope. Hope is faith. Faith is assurance that it will all work out. Assurance is God. God is the solution to everything. The solution isn’t always pretty but takes the ugly and turns it into good. Solutions and the good that comes from the trials is wisdom. Wisdom and growth, the ability to see the good (or that the good is possible) is light. See how that works?

You know what else is cool about the lady? She doesn’t look like me. Her life is vastly different from mine. Her background and culture are nowhere close to mine. We couldn’t be more different people…except for light. And she has no idea how much light she gives me, so I’m happy to share with her right back. I can’t wait to see her.

Pray for light. Strive for light. Find light. Be light.
