Yesterday did not turn out how I thought it would when I woke up in the morning and planned my day…but in a GREAT way! After I picked up Brady from horse, Keith had a couple of surprise places for us to go. He took off work, met us, and off we went. First stop was Custom Jewelry (I couldn’t believe it!) to choose a beautiful present, next stop was lunch, and we ended up touring Brussel’s Bonsai. It’s the biggest nursery dedicated to Bonsai in the United States, in case you didn’t know, and it’s minutes from our house. It was such a cool place. I can’t wait to show you what we picked out for Christmas. And when we got home, he put together my new jewelry box (gorgeous!) given to me by my precious friend, Kirstin. I teared up at least three times yesterday, overwhelmed my his kindness. I think he loves me.
I’ve learned within the last few days, after having just gotten a new phone, that I can’t live without a pop socket. Funny how a little, missing detail makes so much difference. I got dressed yesterday in some kick-around, raggedy clothes to run to Commerce Street Market to grab one and ended up at jewelry store (probably looking like I came to sweep the floors and clean the toilets), but I sure wasn’t mad.
Usually, if Keith picks on me about putting on make-up, I’ll joke that I’m “trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents”. Come to find out, he didn’t know what I was referencing. Do you? Remember those jump rope jingles? We did one that went “Spiderman, Spiderman, sitting on a fence, trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents…he missed, he missed, he missed like this.” Y’all know that one?
Sooooooo…with so much to do and in all the excitement, I still have not been at home during the day for girlresting, girlreading, and girlcooking. Ain’t happenin’ today either. Tomorrow, though…fingers crossed. With bottomless mimosas! Oh, Sweet Baby Jesus, please let it happen.
While I was toodling around yesterday morning and getting ready for the day, me and Hudson (he’s my dog) filled my tub up with hot water and some bleach to clean the jets, and we dang near overflowed the tub with suds. Oops! It was pretty fun.
A friend reminded me yesterday about “dog paralysis”…you know about that, right?! It’s when the dog is asleep on you so, of course, you can’t get up. You’re paralyzed, can’t move, stuck there, don’t want to wake the dog. Yep. It’s a thing.
Hey, if I’m looking at you critically, I’m really not. I’m probably looking at your eyebrows. I want mine to be better, and I’m trying, but then I see yours, and I think I’m getting mine all wrong. Brady taught me how to fill mine in, and I bought the little pencil thingy, but I don’t want to look like Bert and Ernie.
Oh, also, if you’re looking at ME critically, I know why. When I removed the purple from my hair a few weeks ago, some hair in the front was pretty badly burned off from the lightener, so now I have 80’s bangs and look like I walked off the set of Dynasty. I apologize in advance. It is off-putting. I don’t like it either. In fact, I wrestled with the Linda Evans’ flybacks just this morning. So sorry.
Is it me, or is Instagram now full of ass? I mean, excuse me, but you don’t have to twerk in your dog video, zoom in on your butt at the gender reveal, and “accidentally” show me your panties when you’re walking in a store. Geez, that’s old-lady sounding, but bloody hell…stop with the booty jiggling and rump shaking in every, single reel when totally doesn’t match the situation. Leave your cheek-clapping to your OnlyFans audience. Have some dignity!
So yesterday, I posted about the scarcity of sausage ball fixings at the grocery store. One of my friends commented that she uses Red Lobster Biscuit mix to make hers, and in that moment, I think my lip quivered as I re-examined my whole life. Holy Moly, I’ve got to try it. She says it’s a game changer, and I believe her. Oh my.
Alright, today is underway, coffee has been consumed, and bangs have been coiffed in what I hope is a respectable homage to the 80’s without being corny. Fingers crossed. I have 2 appointments, a work deadline, and a few errands before I PLAN to be back home cleaning and being Christmas-y. We will see how it goes.
That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
