Things I Learned Today / Lately

Things I learned lately…

I took the purple out of my hair. It’s been purple for about 7 years. Someone asks me about it (dramatically and in utter disbelief) at least 3 times a day. They say the purple was “who I am”. No. Hair color is not who someone is, People.

Dealt with a ratty truck and trailer parked across all the parking spaces at my business Tuesday. Long story short…lady left it there while she was in court all day. Y’all, her dog was in it, too, windows down, keys in the ignition. In our efforts to figure out who it belonged to and when it was going to get moved, we learned it was hers and that she was going to jail. I had to have it towed, and the dog went to the shelter. You can’t write this stuff.

I’m about finished Christmas shopping. Just a few more things to go!

Monday of my break is already planned. Yeesh. Has to be done, truly, but that’s it!! I’m determined.

I spent nearly an hour with a teenager last night talking through her mental health issues, stopping her crying, and helping her come up with next steps. You just never know what you’ll deal with when you wake up in the morning.

Keith is an exceptional man. I’m continually in awe of his taking care of me. Someone remarked during our last shows, “That dude loves you.” And they were exactly right. I could never have chosen anybody better. I’m in love more than ever. More every day since 1996.

Kids want you to love them, listen, understand, relate, guide, help, make them feel safe.

I think life is like piano music. The left hand is playing the normal stuff you need to do and have planned for the day. The right hand is frantically playing all the things that pop up during the day that you have to keep up with while still playing the normal stuff with the left.

I got more…but have a great day. More catching up soon. And hey, do this… recommend the blog to one person on your friends list today. Tell them I’m a mess worth following. I would be so grateful.

Here’s me with the real Santa from the North Pole. He said I was pretty good this year, all things considered.

That’s all. We learn every day, don’t we?
